Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is a Nigerian actress, singer, philanthropist, and former model, born on February 7, 1978, in Lagos, Nigeria. Omotola, who is also known as “Omo Sexy,” is considered one of the most successful actresses in the Nigerian movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood, with over 300 movies to her credit.

Early Life and Education

Omotola was raised in a family of five, and her parents, a civil servant and businesswoman, realized her acting and entertainment talents at a young age. She attended Chrisland School Opebi, Lagos and Oxford Children School, Lagos for her primary education before proceeding to Santos Layout, for her secondary education.

After completing her secondary education, she studied Estate Management at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. She later went on to get a degree in Psychology at the Obafemi Awolowo University.


Omotola’s acting career started in 1995, when she starred in the movie “Venom of Justice.” She then took a break from acting to pursue a career in modeling, and in 1996 was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria. She went on to represent Nigeria in the Miss World Pageant the same year.

In 1997, Omotola returned to acting, playing her first lead role in the movie “Mortal Inheritance.” She then starred in several movies, some of which were highly successful, bringing her fame and recognition across Nigeria and Africa.
