Early Life and Education
Mariam Yalwaji Katagum was raised in her hometown, Katagum, and completed her primary and secondary education there. She proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in 1980. She later attended the University of Jos, where she received a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 1986.
Mariam Yalwaji Katagum began her career in the Nigerian public service as a classroom teacher in 1980. She subsequently worked in various capacities in the service, including as a principal and director in the Bauchi State Ministry of Education.
