Charles Chukwuma Soludo is a renowned Nigerian economist, politician, and academician. He was born on July 28, 1960, in Aguata, Anambra State, Nigeria. Soludo is a professor of economics and a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He is also a member of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) to the President of Nigeria.

Soludo grew up in a humble family in Anambra State. He attended Christ the King College, Onitsha, for his secondary education and later proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1984. He furthered his education at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics in 1987 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics in 1989.

Soludo began his career as a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1986. He later joined the African Institute for Applied Economics (AIAE) in Enugu, Nigeria, as a research associate. In 1995, he became a senior lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and later a professor of economics in 1998.

In 2004, Soludo was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. During his tenure, he implemented several reforms that helped stabilize the Nigerian economy. He also introduced the banking consolidation policy, which led to the merger of several banks and the creation of stronger and more stable financial institutions.

Soludo has also served as a consultant to several international organizations, including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He has also authored several books and articles on economics and development.
