Aishah Ahmad was born on October 26, 1976, in Niger State, Nigeria. She rose through the ranks to become the Head of Retail Banking and later the Executive Director in charge of Retail Banking North.

In 2017, Aishah Ahmad was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the CBN. She served in this capacity for a year before she was appointed as the Deputy Governor of the CBN in 2018. As the Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, she was responsible for ensuring the stability of the Nigerian financial system.

During her tenure as the Deputy Governor, Aishah Ahmad implemented several policies and initiatives aimed at improving the Nigerian financial sector. She played a key role in the development of the Payment Service Bank (PSB) framework, which allowed for the licensing of new banks to provide financial services to underserved areas in Nigeria. She also championed the implementation of the Shared Agent Network Expansion Facility (SANEF), which aimed at increasing financial inclusion in Nigeria.

Aishah Ahmad is married to Abdallah Ahmad, a retired Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army. They have two children together. She belong to Nupe tribe, one of the dominant tribe in Middle Belt of Nigeria which is now known as North Central.
